As a Beaumont resident, husband, father and business owner, I am concerned about the future of our city. I believe I can help our city leaders to make smart decisions that benefit all citizens. I want Beaumont to be the best place to raise a family and run a business. My business experience and fiscally conservative perspective will be an asset to our city government. I want to keep our taxes low and make sure we operate with a balanced budget! I intend to focus on the core role of city government - public safety, infrastructure and economic stability.
- Mike Williams
Mike is married to Katherine Gavrelos and they have 2 beautiful children. He is the co-owner of Longhorn Liquor, a locally owned business, that began in southeast Texas and now has 18 locations in 10 cities. Williams is also is the founder of the very successful SETX Whiskey Fest which will celebrates it's third year in January 2025. SETX Whiskey Fest has raised more than $650,000 for Cure Rare Disease as of 2024.
I believe City government needs to be operating on a balanced budget. Recently our city government dipped into the fund balance to balance the budget. That is not a balanced budget! I will work hard to help our city work towards a balanced budget.
Most people choose to live in a city for the services provided by the city. Access to emergency services is probably one of the most important - fire, police and EMS. It's vitally important to make sure we support our first responders with appropriate compensation and training.
The infrastructure of a community - it's roads, bridges, water and sewer pipes - is crucial to the health and well-being of the individuals who live there. The City must continue to work to upgrade and repair older infrastructure, and maintain newer infrastructure.
After thoughtful conversations with my wife Katherine, as well as family, friends, and trusted mentors, I am excited to announce my decision to run for an At-Large position on the Beaumont City Council. Initially, I had planned to run for the Ward 2 seat currently held by longtime Councilman Mike Getz. However, with Randy Feldschau’s decision to pursue the mayor’s office, I believe running At-Large is the best way to serve our entire city during this pivotal time.
Beaumont is at a crossroads. Now, more than ever, we need leaders who will prioritize the needs of our first responders, strengthen the city’s financial foundation, and deliver solutions that directly improve the lives of all residents—not waste resources on unnecessary or ineffective projects.
As a business owner, father, and proud Beaumont resident, I’ve experienced firsthand both the opportunities and the challenges our city faces. Like so many others, I want to see Beaumont reach its full potential. I believe the City Council must act boldly and responsibly to address these issues head-on, ensuring Beaumont is positioned for a brighter, more sustainable future.
Supporting our first responders will be one of my top priorities. Firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel are the backbone of public safety, one of the city’s most fundamental responsibilities. These heroes deserve the resources, support, and leadership required to do their jobs effectively and safely.
In addition to public safety, I will champion responsible financial management. Beaumont must rebuild its fund balance to safeguard against future economic challenges. The city also needs to refocus its efforts on infrastructure, neighborhoods, and essential services, while pursuing a balanced, sustainable approach to downtown revitalization—one that delivers results without placing an undue burden on taxpayers.
It’s time for the council to come together and enact meaningful, lasting change that improves the quality of life for everyone in Beaumont. This is not about personal agendas or political divisions—it’s about delivering real results for the people we serve.
With a proven record of leadership and a deep commitment to our community, I am ready to work tirelessly to lead Beaumont into a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future. I hope to earn your trust, your support, and your vote as we take this next step together for our city.
